At RTX, the world largest aerospace and defense company, 185,000 great minds are united by purpose and inspired to make a difference solving the world’s most complex problems. With our three market leading businesses, world-class operations and investments in research and development, we offer capabilities and opportunity no one else can. Together, we push the boundaries of known science and find new ways to connect and protect our world.

Raytheon brings the strength of more than 100 years of experience and renowned engineering expertise to meet the needs of today’s mission and stay ahead of tomorrow’s threat. We deliver solutions that help our nation and allies defend freedoms, and deter aggression, creating a safer, more secure world. Join us and help shape the future of aerospace and defense.

Affordability Engineering at Raytheon focuses on delivering optimized solutions across the entire product lifecycle, integrating technical performance, design choices, manufacturing behavior, supplier inputs, sustainment considerations, and readiness metrics into a unified cost and throughput framework. As an Affordability Theory of Constraint (TOC) Engineer II, you will play a key role in supporting the development and execution of discrete event simulation (DES) models to identify system constraints, characterize resource interactions, quantify throughput impacts, and assess cost and schedule sensitivities. Your work will enable program leadership to make informed, data-driven decisions that balance cost, performance, schedule, and mission needs.

This is an onsite role based in Tucson, AZ.

What You Will Do

• Develop, execute, and maintain discrete event simulation models to analyze throughput, queueing behavior, cycle time, resource constraints, and system bottlenecks.
• Prepare model input datasets using validated engineering, operations, supplier, and sustainment data.
• Identify and characterize constraints across production lines, supply chain flows, and sustainment/repair loops.
• Analyze the impact of design decisions, yield variations, staffing assumptions, or supplier performance on system throughput and affordability.
• Conduct multi-scenario studies, sensitivity analyses, and parameter sweeps.
• Document model assumptions, boundaries, and data traceability to ensure credibility and repeatability.
• Support affordability assessments, including lifecycle cost modeling, business case analyses, and readiness/availability studies.
• Collaborate with Affordability Leads and cross-functional teams to align model outputs with program requirements.
• Update model inputs as new data becomes available to ensure accurate reflection of system behavior.

Qualifications You Must Have

• Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and a minimum of 2 years of prior relevant experience unless prohibited by local laws/regulations.
• Experience in Systems Engineering, operations research, Industrial Engineering, or related analytical disciplines.
• Experience working with structured datasets (Excel, CSV, databases) for data analysis and/or model input preparation.
• Experience building or using discrete event simulation tools (e.g., ExtendSim, Simio, Arena, or similar platforms).

Qualifications We Prefer

• Experience presenting to internal stakeholders.
• Experience analyzing production and supply chain performance, including queueing behavior, yields, resource constraints, rework/repair flows, and operational risk drivers.
• Experience executing scenario analyses such as parameter sweeps, sensitivity studies, or Monte Carlo simulations, using structured data inputs (e.g., Excel, databases).
• Experience using data visualization and analytics tools (Python, Power BI, Tableau, JMP) to interpret simulation outputs and support lifecycle cost, affordability, or readiness assessments.
• Experience collaborating with cross-functional teams and supporting system-of-systems evaluations across manufacturing, supply chain, engineering, and program teams.

What We Offer

• Our values drive our actions, behaviors, and performance with a vision for a safer, more connected world. At RTX we value: Safety, Trust, Respect, Accountability, Collaboration, and Innovation.

• Relocation Eligible – Relocation assistance is available.
