Job Description:

UNIFIED COMMUNICATIONS ENGINEER

Connect the Enterprise Through Unified Communications

We are looking for a Unified Communications Engineer to join and expand an experienced engineering team responsible for the enterprise collaboration and communications environment. This role is ideal for an engineer with strong Skype for Business knowledge. You will help operate, engineer, troubleshoot, and evolve an enterprise communications environment while learning and implementing new technologies that connect previously separate systems. This includes opportunities to work with Skype for Business, Microsoft Teams, Pexip, Cisco Jabber, VTC systems, voice services, conferencing platforms, and the integrations that allow them to communicate with one another.

What You'll Do

● Engineer and support enterprise unified communications platforms, including Skype for Business and associated voice, video, messaging, conferencing, and collaboration services.

● Design and support interoperability solutions that allow different communications platforms to communicate effectively across the enterprise.

● Learn and implement emerging UC technologies, including solutions such as Pexip that enable interoperability between Microsoft Teams and existing enterprise video and collaboration environments.

● Engineer collaboration between voice, video, and messaging platforms, including environments such as Cisco Jabber, VTC systems, enterprise phones, and instant messaging.

● Troubleshoot complex communications issues across signaling, media, authentication, networking, conferencing, endpoints, applications, and platform integrations.

● Partner across engineering disciplines including networking, security, infrastructure, endpoint, cloud, applications, and service management to resolve issues and deliver new capabilities.

● Continuously improve the UC environment by identifying opportunities to increase reliability, interoperability, user experience, automation, and enterprise capability.

Why This Role?

Unified communications is changing rapidly.

Organizations are no longer operating a single voice or conferencing platform. Enterprise users expect to communicate across Teams, Skype, VTC, voice, video, and messaging platforms without having to understand what technology sits behind the connection.

Your job will be to help make that possible.

You will have the opportunity to work on problems such as:

• How do we connect Teams to an existing VTC environment?
• How do we allow different collaboration platforms to communicate?
• How do we connect voice, video, presence, and messaging across platforms?
• How do we introduce a new capability without disrupting the existing enterprise?
• How do we make the experience feel like one communications environment even when multiple technologies are operating underneath it?

If those problems sound interesting, this is an opportunity to become a key part of an engineering team that keeps the enterprise connected.

Nice to Have

• Experience with Microsoft Teams and Teams interoperability.
• Experience with Pexip or other video and collaboration interoperability platforms.
• Experience with Cisco Jabber and enterprise instant messaging.
• Experience supporting enterprise VTC systems and video endpoints.
• Experience with enterprise voice, SIP, telephony, or session management technologies.
• Experience integrating voice, video, messaging, and conferencing platforms.
• Experience with Cisco collaboration technologies.
• Experience with PowerShell, APIs, automation, or other engineering technologies.
• Experience supporting geographically distributed enterprise communications environments.

Our Mission Engineering Experience

Our mission supports 28 different IT engineering disciplines, creating an environment where engineers can build deep expertise while expanding into adjacent technologies and new areas of engineering.

Unified communications is one of the best examples of why that model matters. Modern collaboration doesn't live inside one platform. Voice, video, messaging, cloud collaboration, conferencing, networking, security, endpoints, and infrastructure all have to work together.

You will have the opportunity to grow beyond a single platform and become a broader Unified Communications Engineer. You may begin with deep Skype for Business expertise and then expand into Teams interoperability, Pexip, Cisco collaboration, VTC, voice, automation, cloud services, and other technologies as the enterprise evolves.

We are looking for someone who is curious enough to learn what they don't know, technically strong enough to troubleshoot what they do know, and motivated enough to help build what comes next.

Our engineering culture emphasizes ownership, technical growth, teamwork, and delivering high-quality results while maintaining a healthy balance between professional performance and family time.
