What's Your Possible?

At Northrop Grumman UK, you are part of a team driving innovation where it matters most, solving tomorrow's challenges and shaping the technology solutions of the future. We call it Defining Possible.

This mindset goes beyond our customer solutions. It's the foundation for your career development and the impact we have within our communities.

Join Us as a Cloud Engineer

This is more than just a job. It's a mission.

As a Cloud Engineer within our National Security Solutions business, you'll play a key role in helping customers modernise and transform mission-critical systems. Working as part of our Cloud Team, you'll support customers in refactoring, replatforming and migrating complex applications and infrastructure into AWS and hybrid-cloud environments.

You'll work with cutting-edge cloud technologies, DevSecOps practices and Infrastructure as Code to deliver secure, scalable and resilient solutions that improve reliability, reduce operational costs and increase organisational agility. From designing cloud architectures and automating deployments to supporting containerised workloads and troubleshooting live platforms, you'll make a direct impact on some of the UK's most important national security programmes.

As Kris, Lead Cloud Solutions Engineer, explains:

"Life as a Cloud Engineer is an exceptionally rewarding role where no two days are truly the same. You can be troubleshooting Python code in a Lambda function, designing complex solutions, presenting to customers and building those same solutions using Infrastructure as Code and DevOps tooling. Every day brings new challenges and opportunities to learn."

You'll join a highly collaborative Infrastructure Team made up of cloud, platform, systems administration and engineering specialists, working across public cloud, on-premise and hybrid environments while solving complex technical challenges for multiple customers.

What You'll Do

• Design, build and maintain AWS and hybrid-cloud platforms supporting national security missions
• Administer and support Linux and Windows-based infrastructure within secure enterprise environments
• Troubleshoot and optimise IP networking, routing and connectivity across cloud and hybrid systems
• Automate deployment, configuration and operational processes using Infrastructure as Code and configuration management tools
• Build, deploy and support containerised applications using Kubernetes and Amazon EKS within secure AWS environments
• Collaborate with engineers, architects and customers to deliver reliable, scalable and secure technology solutions
• Continuously develop your skills and maintain relevant industry certifications

What We're Looking For

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, a related technical discipline, equivalent qualification, or relevant industry experience
• AWS certification at Practitioner or Associate level, with experience designing, deploying and administering cloud solutions
• Experience administering Linux and Windows operating systems within large enterprise environments
• Knowledge of IPv4 networking, including routing, subnetting and troubleshooting connectivity issues
• Experience automating infrastructure and operational tasks using tools such as Ansible, Bash, PowerShell, Puppet or Python
• Experience working with containerisation technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, including deploying and managing workloads within Amazon EKS (Elastic Kubernetes Service)

We know not every candidate will meet every requirement. If you're excited by the opportunity and believe you have the skills and potential to succeed, we'd love to hear from you.

Security Clearance

Due to the nature of our work, you must be a sole UK national and able to gain and maintain UK Government security clearance in line with the job role and requirements.
